A milestone anniversary was recognized Sept. 16 when Carmen
Construction Co. officially celebrated its 50th business anniversary with a gathering
at its office at 427 Commerce St. An estimated 250 people were on hand to congratulate
company founder Carmen Scaccio.
Guests included employees, family members,
business associates, Mayor Christopher Grimm and many city officials and longstanding
friends.
During the celebration, guests were entertained by strolling musicians
who sang and played mandolins and accordions while singing Italian songs. In keeping
the the Italian theme, the food was prepared by Scaccio and family.
As a special surprise to Scaccio,
his son, Joe, now president of Carmen Construction, presented his father with
an original oil portrait by artist Dino Massaroni, also from Tallmadge. The portrait
of Carmen was commissioned in honor of the anniversary.
